CARING Vale residents picked up their bin bags for a community litter pick from Tesco on Worcester Road along the riverbank to Raphael’s Restaurant.
The event on Sunday, December 18 saw members of a Town Plan sub group fill more than 30 bags with litter, much of them with cans and bottles from within the vicinity of fishing stands
Sub group chair Coun Gerry O’Donnell was among those taking part and appealed to local residents to preserve ‘pretty’ walks such as this which are enjoyed by local people and visitors alike.
“How sad to rubbish litter the banks and trees.” he said.
“The more community litter picks we have, the more aware people may become but of course behaviour change is not achieved in the short term.
“To restore pride takes time and education.
“I hope together we can raise awareness of this problem and help keep our town clean and tidy,” he added.
