It's another ace charity effort from The Vale Golf Club seniors

THE VALE Golf Club seniors have once again proved their generosity by raising more than £4,000 for Evesham-based Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust.

In March 2016 the seniors made a substantial donation to the local branch of Mencap to help fund the purchase of a minibus and ten months on there was more fund-raising to celebrate when ex-Vale seniors captain David Rimell presented a cheque for £4,363 to trust founder Sue Sollis.

During David’s captaincy in 2016 the money was raised by him with the considerable support of The Vale seniors playing charitable matches and contributing to other fund-raising initiatives.

David decided to nominate the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust as his chosen charity having learned how a small local charity, with very low administrative costs, could achieve so much in accomplishing its aims of relieving sickness, suffering and distress of those with leukaemia.

Not only did the charity raise £100,000 to fund the creation of a research centre, opened in 1996, but also assisted with the funding of chemotherapy sensitivity testing.

The charity also fully funds a complementary therapist at Worcester Royal Hospital who, with other therapists, sees between 500 and 600 patients annually in hospital and at home – a service provided completely free to the patients.

On receiving the cheque, Sue Sollis thanked David and The Vale seniors for their donation and emphasised the importance of the work undertaken by the charity.
