It’s a yes from Jess

AN OVER-the-moon Evesham man has spoken of his delight after his fiancee said yes to his romantic wedding proposal.

Harvey Appleton, 20, wanted to stage a wedding proposal which would sweep his girlfriend Jess Waterhouse off her feet.

After dating for 18 months, Harvey’s romantic extravaganza worked a treat as Jess said yes at the picturesque setting of the 400-acre Farncombe Estate near Broadway, the couple’s favourite destination.

His proposal began months before he asked the big question when he emailed Farncombe staff with detailed diagrams of his imagined proposal platform complete with red carpet and fairy lights and a carefully marked out spot where he planned to pop

the question.

The area boasts countryside views of Broadway, the Vale of Evesham and the Malvern Hills which helped create the backdrop to the romantic occasion.

Harvey’s plans included every attention to detail possible. His mother Vanessa was camouflaged in bushes nearby with a flask of tea, set of binoculars and a flashlight so she could be part of the event.

On her son’s signal she shone the torch to John, Harvey’s dad, who was waiting higher up on the estate to man the fireworks on the moment Jess gave Harvey the answer he wanted.

“She said yes, no hesitation – it’s amazing we are so happy.” he said.

“Farncombe Estate is a special place for us as it’s somewhere we meet to talk and watch the spectacular sunsets. It’s where our relationship really kicked off and it means a lot to us.

“Everyone at Farncombe was so helpful. The gardeners even cleaned out the pond for us and Kerry Jones found us some fairy lights.

“She just loved it. With all the lights it was magical. We walked through the archway to the garden and on the decking overlooking the valley I went down on one knee.”

With the pair now officially engaged, they plan to get married at some stage next year.

Jess, 19, added: “I feel very blessed to have someone who is so romantic. The whole day was full of surprises but the

proposal in the evening was by far the best – in particular the fireworks. How could I not have said yes.

“In all the times we’ve visited our favourite place, never had I realised a hidden paradise was just the other side of the field.

“As Harvey led me through the garden under the fairy lights that he had hung upon the trees above us, I was blown away by how much effort he’d put in. The whole week he had been preparing this moment – just for me.”
