A TREKKING trio will be scaling the heights of the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland after a Worcestershire charity was chosen to benefit from a major national fund-raiser.

Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust will be among the causes for Global’s Make Some Noise appeal which takes place today (Friday)

As part of Global’s Make Some Noise day this year Heart FM’s Amanda Holden is taking on the challenge of a lifetime – the iconic Three Peaks Challenge.

Amanda will scale the highest mountains of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, climbing a whopping 10,476 feet in just 24 hours.

Alongside Amanda will be a team of ‘Mandy’s Mountaineers’, made up of people from many of the charities Global’s Make Some Noise supports.

Charity founder and CEO Dr Jen Kelly, operations and fund-raising manager Emma Williams and Samantha Lloyd (a partner at SME Solicitors) will among those tackling the challenge.

Jen and Emma will be trekking up Snowdon with the team with Samantha taking on the full Three Peak challenge.

“The trust is honoured to of been chosen by Global’s Make Some Noise and are truly grateful for the support. As a small charity, with just five members of part-time staff, we really are making a difference to so many families facing childhood cancer across the region,” Dr Kelly said.

“For all those who know me, they will be aware that with only a few weeks’ notice to train, this really is a big challenge for me to get up Snowdon.

“The trek is not going to be easy, but I will be making it to the top with a photo of my beautiful girl with me,” Grace’s mum added.

The Trust has supported Samantha and her family since her 14-year-old son Edward was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma back in November 2020.

Edward’s treatment has recently finished but his recovery and ongoing monitoring will continue. As a thank you to the Trust, the family have set up a special fundraising page to raise funds to support other families facing childhood cancer.
