Inspirational Beverley shares her weight loss story to help others shed the pounds

AN INSPIRATIONAL Evesham mum who decided enough was enough and shed nearly one stone in six weeks has launched her own Slimming World group to help others lose weight.

Beverley joined Slimming World back in July of this year after deciding she needed to lose two stone in weight which was taking its toll on her body.

“Having an eight-year-old disabled son, my health is critically important,” Beverley said.

“He is solely dependent on us for his every need. Lifting and carrying a four and a half stone young boy is hugely challenging and demanding on your body, and carrying an excess weight of two stone myself was not helping this situation.

After joining the weight lost group to shed the unwanted pounds, Beverley lost three-and-a-half pounds in her first week. And after six weeks the Evesham mum lost a total of 13-and-a-half pounds.

Beverley is still on course to reach her goal of losing two stone and the Slimming World programme has allowed her to continue eating her favourite meals.

The Evesham mum has swapped biscuits or a bag of crisps for fruit salad bowls, fat free yogurts and Slimming World Hifi Bars as healthier alternatives to snack on in between meals.

“I feel really organised and in control and try to plan my meals for the week ahead,” Beverley said.

“It’s also great to be able to socialise with friends, and still come in with a weight loss in group; life does not have to stop.

However, Beverley did find rejoining the Slimming World group in Evesham daunting at first.

“When I walked through the doors at Slimming World, I felt really nervous and slightly embarrassed to be rejoining if I’m honest, but there was no need to be feeling apprehensive,” she said.

“I received a warm welcome from consultant Beckie, and as soon as she went through the new members talk, I felt really positive and determined.”Nothing was going to get in my way.

“The inspiration, motivation and ideas that come each week from the Image Therapy Group sessions, is fantastic, it’s really supportive if you haven’t had a good week, but also really encouraging to hear other people’s achievements.

“The Slimming World magazine is also a great tool, and I really enjoy the recipe ideas and bringing these lovely dishes to life.

With her new found confidence, Beverley is now training to become a consultant for Slimming World.

She will be opening her own weekly group at Fladbury Village Hall next Tuesday (October 31) at 7:30pm and Beverley is hoping to help others lose weight.

“Learning that 25 per cent of Worcester’s population is obese, and with obesity being a big issue across the UK, I really wanted to share my journey and support other people in theirs,” Beverley added.

“When I joined Slimming World, I never dreamed that my journey would take me to a consultant, I just can’t wait to get started and support others to get to target.

“I personally understand the challenges that people face with weight and I will be there to support every one of my members to their chosen weight target, overcoming challenges along the way together and celebrating success.”
