Inspiration in the frame at Inkberrow Village Green Art Fair

BEAUTIFUL art at attractive prices will be on show at the third Inkberrow Village Green Art Fair this Bank Holiday Monday, August 29.

The first one, in 2020, dubbed ‘The Lock Down Art-Fair’ proved a huge success and and the event has simply snowballed since then.

The idea for the event came from Inkberrow artist John Harris, who was fed-up with the closure of the galleries he normally supplied during the Covid lockdown.

So he and his wife Stella, put posters around the village asking any artists to join him on the village green to show the work they had done in lockdown.

He was amazed to be contacted by 14 artists.

John said: “I didn’t realise I had so much competition!”

2021 saw an increase in numbers of visitors and artists, including some crafters and to everyone’s surprise, local musician Tom Forbes came with his guitar, sitting under the tree, singing familiar songs, adding a delightful extra to the atmosphere.

This year, about 20 local artists and crafters, are ready to show their work.

They will set up on chairs, tables, step-ladders and rugs – whatever is easy to pack up and run with if the weather turns stormy.

And with a good pub at each end of the Village Green, an excellent village shop with a coffee machine, there’s plenty of shelter, rain or shine.
