LIGHT Night Worcester has proved to be extremely popular again drawing in the crowds despite the flooding and threats of wind.

The two-day festival of immersive and interactive artworks, quirky and playful walkabout shows, and a silent disco is the third Light Night Worcester festival programmed by The Arches Worcester Festival’s team at Severn Arts.

On both evenings festival visitors could wander through Submergence by Squidsoup, a magical installation created using thousands of suspended lights; interact with Luma, an 8-meter-long friendly robot created by Air Giants; take in the joyful Neon Dogs collection by Deepa Mann-Kler under the protection of an entertaining pair of dog wardens; and follow the colourful luminous yarn trail created by Studio Vertigo’s oversized ball of wool.

The Lips by Puppets with Guts, Disco Heads and GlowBros entertained with their singing and dancing walkabout shows and the resident DJs in Angel Place and at the very popular Silent Disco in Crowngate Shopping Centre car park kept the dancing going throughout the evening.

David Edmunds, Festivals Artistic Director said: “We are really pleased to be able to present another festival programme of high-quality work created by incredible international artists. Our aim is to bring people together to enjoy the playful moments we have created and amass smiles and we’ve certainly achieved this.”

One person attending Light Night commented “Absolutely fantastic! Great fun for any age. It will be a lasting memory. Especially loved the glitter men and silent disco” and another said “Amazing event, I’m coming again tomorrow to catch what we missed.”

The next festival to take place is Atmosphere, a new outdoor Spring festival during the daytime on April 9 and 10. Come and immerse yourself in the two-day programme of live performances, workshops, talks and activities designed to delight, inspire and captivate all ages.
