SACRIFICES made by the RAF and Commonwealth forces during the Battle of Britain were remembered in a service at Evesham’s Waterside cemetery.

The town’s Royal Air Force Association organised the event which was attended by Mayor of Evesham Mark Goodge, Mayoress Emma Goodge and Coun Alex Sinton, chairman of Wychavon District Council.

Branch president Jeff Brereton and chairman Coun Jenny Johnson joined Coun Alan Booth and Danny Rollinson who led the parade from the Royal British Legion whose standard was carried by Daryl Green.

Rev Andy Green officiated at the ceremony with the Last Post and Reveille being played by trumpet player Mike Butler. The ceremony was supported by children from St Andrew’s CE and Swan Lane First Schools.

Wreaths on behalf of the Royal Air Force Association and the Royal British Legion were laid by Coun Sinton and John Smith while crosses were also laid on each grave by pupils.
