A GROUP of alleged illegal immigrants have been arrested after they were seen jumping off the back of a lorry in Pershore.

Police were called to Racecourse Road around 8.50am on Saturday (December 19) after reports from residents claiming they had seen up to six men fleeing the scene after emerging from an haulage lorry.

Two of the men have been confirmed as Iranian, while the other four have been described by officers as being of Middle Eastern origin. The driver of the lorry has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

Officers believe the migrants entered the UK through Dover after travelling across Europe on the back of the lorry.

Transport companies can face a fine of up to £2,000 per illegal immigrant found in their vehicle.

PC Luke Bullock, Pershore’s Police Community Support Officer, said: “Inquiries are still ongoing and immigration services are looking into it.”
