EVESHAM’S MP Nigel Huddleston showed his support for small businesses with a packed day of events to celebrate Small Business Saturday.

The annual event was held on Saturday and celebrates the contribution of smaller businesses to the UK economy and British way of life.

As part of the event, the Mid Worcestershire MP spent the day visiting businesses in his constituency and learning more about the part that they play in their local communities.

Mr Huddleston met David Chill and his staff at Mr Chill’s Traditional Sweet Emporium, making sure to buy some bags from their hefty selection of boiled sweets for him and his son to enjoy as they continued through the constituency.

A visit to Throckmorton saw the MP meet staff at Vale Pianos, a family run piano shop and showroom with more than 100 pianos on display.

He learned how this business had been built on the extensive and specialist knowledge of its staff and had even provided bespoke piano cases for acts as high profile as Muse, Biffy Clyro and Bombay Bicycle Club.

Following the visits, the MP said, “I spend a lot of my time in the constituency visiting great businesses and learning about the successful enterprises of my constituents.

“It has been a particular pleasure to spend a day to visiting such businesses right across my constituency, from Evesham in the south to Ombersley in the north, as part of the Small Business Saturday event.

“The large number of independent and often family run businesses in the county is one of the things that sets it apart from many other parts of the UK.

“I am glad to have had the opportunity of Small Business Saturday to experience so much of this first hand and am happy that, as a local Worcestershire resident myself, I will be able to enjoy the fantastic products and services of Worcestershire businesses for years to come.”
