How music workshops help those with dementia

THE COUNTDOWN is on to the latest of Wychavon District Council’s musical performances for people living with dementia.

This month, people are invited to come along to meet new people and enjoy listening to singer Deborah Rose and guitarist Remi Harris, who will provide an entertaining and engaging musical show, responding to individual needs, to create an uplifting experience for all.

The performance, which is part of Wychavon District Council’s continuing series of music workshops, is taking place on Wednesday, March 15 at the Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore from 1.30pm until 3pm.

The workshops have been running right throughout the summer last year and into 2017, with a variety of music genres represented including Latin American, contemporary and classical.

Jenny Davis, Arts Development Officer at Wychavon, said: “I’m delighted that these workshops and all of our musicians have committed to such an entertaining programme.

“The feedback we’ve been receiving shows that the workshops have a very positive impact on people by reducing isolation, getting them involved and helping them to make new friends.”

The cost to attend each workshop is just £2, and the price includes a hot drink and light refreshments.

To book a place on any of the workshops please contact the Number 8 Box Office on 01386 555488 or www.number8.org.
