How Labour's efforts led to a 'cracking' donation of Easter Eggs to Caring Hands

CARING members of Evesham Labour Party responded generously to a request to donate Easter eggs for distribution by Caring Hands to local families in need.

Brew Bear Coffee House on Evesham High Street, a collection point for Caring Hands, kindly hosted the event last Friday (April 1). Labour party members and supporters were invited between to drop off their contributions and chat over a coffee or tea.

Helen Russell, Labour’s candidate at the last general election, who helped organise the event, said: “We would like to thank all those who contributed for their generosity and continued support.

“It is, however, terrible that more people than ever in Evesham are relying on foodbanks and the situation will get worse with the current cost of living crisis.’

Mike Harland, chair of Evesham Labour Party, added: “We hope these gifts will help hard-pressed local families enjoy Easter. But, of course, we cannot be satisfied with a situation where, in a wealthy country like ours, people have to rely on foodbanks for things most of us take for granted.

“We must work for a fairer society and campaign for a more caring government which would make foodbanks a thing of the past.’

Caring Hands thanked Evesham Labour Party on Twitter: “Thank you all so much for your generosity and support. The Easter eggs will be a blessing to many people for Easter, especially children who may not otherwise receive anything.’
