How are you fixed for spare time?

Evesham Editorial 6th Jun, 2019   0

A POPULAR Evesham group is on the lookout for volunteers to provide appliance assistance at the town’s Repair Cafe.

Organisers have been forced to cancel Saturday’s (June 8) session at Evesham Methodist Church due to a lack of numbers and have issued a plea for anyone who has worked with electrical items or is able to use a sewing machine to offer repairs and or alterations to garments.

Should the merry band of volunteers be unable to repair the item, many are knowledgeable enough about providing advice and support to guide shoppers in the right direction.

A team of electricians and other specialists are on hand to fix items such as toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, bikes, toys, crockery and much more.

The scheme, which originally started in Amsterdam in 2010, is run by volunteers at the same venue each month and has been going strong since 2014.

Any repairs will be carried out for free with organisers requesting just a donation to cover the costs of the volunteers.

Organsiers hope to return with another Repair Cafe on Saturday, July 2 from 10am to 2pm at the church. Call Tony Piper on 01386 300478 for more information.
