A STAGGERING £4,252.35 was raised for the people of Ukraine as generous Pershore residents dug deep at a bring and buy sale.
Coun Peter Brookbank and Coun Art Lavelle organised the event at Pershore Town Hall in aid of the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal and saw support from fellow town councillors and residents from Pershore, Drakes Broughton and Great Comberton.
Both Coun Brookbank and Coun Lavelle thanked all who donated items for sale and staffed the event.
“What a magnificent effort it turned out to be, with just five days from planning to finish. Although we hadn’t asked for money donations, money soon poured in,” they said.
“The crisis in Ukraine has touched a nerve, none more so than here in Pershore.”
Together with the fund-raising, Pershore Town Council has called on the town’s MP Harriett Baldwin and the Government to do all they can to help end the current conflict as speedily as possible.
