Homebase confirms Vale store to close

Evesham Editorial 17th Dec, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

RETAIL giant Homebase has confirmed it will close its Evesham branch early next year with the loss of 40 jobs.

The home improvement store, which first opened on the Four Pools Retail Park in 2008, will be shutting its doors for good on Saturday, February 13, after a month long consultation.

The company issued a warning in October about their full year profits falling below expectations amid fears stores could be closed.

39 jobs will be lost as a result of the closure, but Home Retail Group, which owns Homebase, are working with their staff to find them new jobs at other stores.

There have been rumours that The Range would replace Homebase, but the retailer confirmed on Twitter they currently don’t have any plans to take over the store.

A spokesperson for Homebase said: “Following a period of consultation, Homebase can confirm that its store on Four Pools Retail Park, Evesham will close on 13 February 2016.

“Discussions are being held with colleagues to help them find alternative employment.”
