Holidaymakers hit as airline Monarch goes into administration

VALE holidaymakers have been hit after the airline Monarch went into administration.

It means many flights have been axed and leaves some 110,000 UK passengers overseas.

In addition more than 2,000 jobs could be under threat.

Monarch has a huge presence at Birmingham Airport but at 4.20am the airline tweeted: “Monarch customers in the UK: don’t go to the airport. There will be no more Monarch flights. This page will no longer be monitored.”

The Civil Aviation Authority said that from today (Monday) all future holidays and flights with Monarch had been cancelled and that the Government had asked the CAA to coordinate flights to bring those Monarch passengers currently overseas back home – at no extra cost to the customer.
