EVESHAM’S Tuesday market officially launched this week with hopes it will drive more shoppers into the town centre.
The town’s Mayor Coun Fred Kaler was on hand to cut the red ribbon, along with market operator Jo Jones, to mark the start of the new market which will run for the next six months as part of a trial.
Fresh produce and general goods will be on offer every Tuesday as council chiefs look to boost the town’s existing market offering on what is often a quiet day for shopping in Evesham.
Deputy Mayor, Coun Alan Booth, said: “It seemed to have improved the footfall into the town centre, it went well.
“The people I spoke to thought it was really good.
“I just hope it gets better, but I’m sure it will,” he added.
