A TRIO of healthy Vale residents are celebrating after losing more than five stone through a new fitness programme.
Rooftop Housing Group residents 85-year-old Joan Rogers, 76-year-old Frank Nash and 76-year-old Terry Reid, decided to swap their sweet tooths for running shoes in April when they took up the affordable housing team’s new Active Lifestyle and Wellbeing programme.
After recently completing their six month free ‘M.O.T fitness review’, the trio found they had lost up to five stone and two pounds between them, through walks, swimming sessions and healthy eating.
Joan from Evesham lost two stone and found her blood pressure had lowered, Frank from Eckington also lost two stone and Terry from Broadway lost one stone and two pounds.
The combined weight loss was the equivalent of 28 bags of sugar and Mr Reid said: “People come along to get out of the loneliness and to try and make new friends.
“It’s a very social programme and the social side is just as important as the physical side.”
