A NEW weekly event aimed at promoting healthy hearts and minds will be launching in Pershore this week.
The free activity days will take place at Drakes Broughton Village Hall every Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon, beginning on September 11.
The sessions – part of Worcestershire County Council’s Healthy Worcestershire programme – will feature activities centred around physical exercise, healthy discussions, socialising, and more.
On arrival, participants will be receive an introduction before beginning 30 minutes of low to medium intensity physical activity aimed at improving mobility, strength and balance.
Afterwards, attendees can have a 15 minute break to relax with a free tea or coffee before taking part in a group discussion about ways to improve health and wellbeing.
Discussions will include advice and guidance on things like budget-friendly nutritious cooking, healthy habits, and mental and emotional wellbeing.
Each week will centre around a new topic of discussion and will also feature information on keeping safe from things like doorstep crime. Participants can help shape discussions by talking to the session leader.
The events will then conclude with 30 minutes of socialising aimed at bringing about a bit of fun for visitors. There will be activites such as bingo, arts and crafts or attendees can stay for a drink and a chat.
Alongside the sessions in Drakes Broughton, the county council hosts a weekly event on Fridays at Evesham Adventure Playground from 10am to 12 noon.
Worcestershire County Council has also launched weekly Healthy Worcestershire programmes in Bromsgrove, Malvern, Redditch, Worcester and other areas of Wychavon.
Anyone over the age of 18 is free to attend. Visitors can join in for all or part of the sessions.
