Have your say on projects in contention for New Homes Bonus cash

Evesham Editorial 12th Dec, 2016   0

EVESHAM residents will be able to have their say on how up to £362,000 of New Home Bonus money will be spent at a public meeting on Tuesday (December 13).

After the Town Council called for local residents and community groups to submit their ideas, 19 project ideas were received and after working with Wychavon District Council the list has been whittled down to 10.

The projects include a new pedestrian crossing north of Evesham High Street in the vicinity of the St Egwin’s Club, outdoor gym equipment, refurbishing and re-equipping the interior of Evesham Public Hall and a new bus shelter along the High Street adjacent to the car wash.

Other projects in contention for New Homes Bonus money include an outdoor challenge play area and sensory woodland at the Vale of Evesham School and refurbishment of Hampton Scout Hut including new kitchen and block paving.

Cash is also needed by the Abbey Cloisters Project, for enhancements to the interior of Evesham Town Hall, the installation of defibrillators in and around the town and the Round Evesham Walk project.

At the meeting, which starts at 6pm at the Town Hall, residents will be able to listen to a short presentation from each of the projects, ask questions and complete a questionnaire on where this money should be spent.

The feedback from residents will then be used by the Town Council to help them in their decision on which projects to submit to Wychavon District Council for New Homes Bonus money.

Stuart Carter, Evesham Town Clerk, said: “The Town Council are really keen to hear what the people of Evesham think about each of these projects, and it is a great opportunity to have their say. “We hope to have representatives from all of the projects at the event that will be able to give greater detail and answer questions.”
