Have your say on options for police

WEST Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion has launched a consultation into increases in the police take of the council tax for the forthcoming financial year.

He is currently proposing a 2.94 per cent rise for the policing portion – about an extra £6 per year for a Band D household – to pay for policing.  This option covers the rising costs facing West Mercia Police.

However he has also included two other scenarios.  The first is based on a two per cent council tax increase – a cap currently imposed by Government – and the second on the maximum allowed for the current financial year, which is £12 or 5.54 per cent.
