Group to meet to formalise Evesham's dementia friendly town bid

MEMBERS of Evesham’s Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) are set to meet to formalise the town’s bid to be recognised as ‘working to become Dementia Friendly’.

The group, which is supported by the Alzheimer’s Society’s Side by Side Project, first came together in March to launch Evesham’s campaign to become a Dementia Friendly Town.

On Thursday (November 3) members will finalise the application which will enable the town to be publicly recognised for the work residents and the campaign are doing towards becoming dementia friendly.

And as part of the process, Evesham Dementia Action Alliance has drawn up an initial 12 month plan which focuses on a number of key ‘areas for action,’ including Arts, Culture, Leisure & Recreation, Businesses and Shop, Community, Voluntary, Faith Groups & Organisations, Emergency Services and Health and Social Care.

Jo Hughes from the Evesham DAA said: “Whilst the plan has been produced by the Evesham DAA, everyone within the town has a part to play in making it happen.

“Only by coming together can we raise awareness, understanding and break down barriers to make our community more accessible and inclusive of people living with dementia.”

Anyone who would like to find out more information and how to get involved with the campaign should email [email protected], or by searching ‘Evesham Dementia Action Alliance’ on Facebook.
