GENEROUS members of Pershore’s Royal Naval Association handed over a cheque for £1,000 towards the town council’s stained glass memorial window appeal.
The window, to be installed in Pershore Cemetery Chapel, will feature images related to both World Wars and a centre panel showing Pershore at peace thanks to the sacrifice of all those who served in the conflicts.
Various events are planned over the summer including a table top sale on June 9, stalls at this weekend’s Carnival and August’s Plum Fair as well as an auction and art exhibition.
The fund total now stands at £27,500 and town council chiefs are hoping these events, with the support of local residents, will help them to make the final push for the target of £49,000.
The window is due to be installed before November 11 this year, the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
