Grab a slice of community grants

Evesham Editorial 3rd Feb, 2020   0

CHARITIES and voluntary groups across Evesham and Pershore are being encouraged to apply to the Wychavon Community Grants Scheme to fund new and innovative projects that will make a lasting difference and improve quality of life.

With a focus on ‘Creative Communities’, Wychavon has up to £50,000 on offer for projects which use the arts to address issues around health and inequality.

Projects could include dementia workshops, intergenerational projects, activities for all abilities, village hall improvements and play equipment.

Applicants must ensure their project meets the needs of residents, has community support, is well planned, sustainable and the full cost is met through other grant aids and fund-raising efforts.

Past projects which have benefited from the scheme include the Pershore War Horse Memorial which was awarded £4,000 and Pershore Riverside Youth Centre which received £2,000 for an upgrade to a music room.

Coun Rob Adams, portfolio holder for Community Engagement, Culture and Sport at Wychavon District Council, said: “The Wychavon Community Grants Scheme is a great opportunity for local charities and voluntary organisations to take advantage of funding and support.

“We want to ensure community projects are sustainable and inclusive and help provide the necessary tools for the people of Wychavon to achieve their goals.”

The closing date for applications is midday on March 27.
