Going for Gold with new truck

Evesham Editorial 14th Feb, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016

A POPULAR Evesham firm has celebrated three decades on the road by purchashing a new Gold truck for their fleet.

Honeybourne-based IDS Transport bought the limited edition gold liveried Scania Truck to mark 30 years in business and in memory of one of the founders.

Set up by business partners Ian Dyer and Derek Simms in 1985, IDS Transport hit the road in 1987 and have spent the last 30 years delivering fresh produce from the local area to wholesale markets and supermarkets all over the UK.

The new purchase marks three decades of success but also pays tribute to the memory of Ian Dyer who passed away in 2013.

Scania has celebrated its 50 years of business in the UK by bringing out 50 limited edition lorries, each with a unique number on them and the two anniversaries matched.

IDS Transport has boosted its fleet in the past three decades from a handful in the 80s to more than 30 today.

Jerry Alsop, Marketing and Training Manager, said: “In those 30 years we have helped local growers and companies get the goods to market and we thought why not branch out and expand our services so more local companies can enjoy our services.”

“We were approached to join a pallet network late in 2014 and thought we could share our friendly local customer services with more local companies.

“So we decided to join the Fortec Distribution Network as they share our commitment to service.

“As well as chilled distribution we can now offer next palletised distribution to all the local companies in the area.” he added.
