Get on your bike with Wheels 2 Rails

Evesham Editorial 11th Aug, 2021   0

FREE cycling themed family days are on offer at Evesham and Pershore railway stations during August.

Wychavon District Council has joined forces with Worcestershire Community Rail Partnership to offer the Wheels 2 Rails days on Saturday (August 14) at Evesham railway station and on Saturday, August 28 at Pershore railway station.

Cyclists can bring their bikes along anytime between 10am and 5pm for a free safety check from Dr Bike while there will also be a chance to have them security marked, so they can be tracked if they are stolen.

Free family cycling sessions are also taking place on both days between 10am and midday and 2pm and 4pm. The sessions are run by a qualified Bikeability instructor and will help families learn to ride together with confidence in different situations, including cycling to a local railway station.

Coun Emma Stokes, executive board member for Environment, said: “Whether you’re a regular cyclist or haven’t been on your bike for a while our Wheels 2 Rails days offer something for everyone.

“It’s a great opportunity for families to learn to cycle together in different situations and build confidence with support from a qualified instructor.”

Colin Major, vice-chair of Worcestershire Community Rail Partnership, said: “We are delighted to support these events using our railway stations to provide a safe venue for families to enjoy cycling.”

Places are limited so sessions must be pre-booked at www.wychavon.gov.uk/wheels2rails
