AN EVESHAM firm of Chartered Accountants have seen one of their employees reach 50 years of continuous service.
Gerry Smith who joined Clemont Rabjohns in 1965 achieved the astonishing milestone through years spent as a receptionist and then secretary working with two generations of partners, Charles Raymer and his son Garth Raymer who recently retired.
Reflecting on her half century, Gerry said: “When I joined the firm, electronic calculators and computers where unheard of.
“Back then we used ledgers, mechanical adding machines and mental arithmetic. Things are so much easier these days”.
Gerry, from Sedgeberrow, still works part-time with the High Street firm and attends to carry on for a few more years giving valuable help and support to the latest generation of accountants.
