A SPECIAL state-of-the-art cricket chair was unveiled last week.

Cricket fanatic Harry Dyke from Bishampton oversaw the design of what is thought to be the first cricket chair of its kind in the UK.

The chair was unveiled at Hillers Farm Shop by the world-renowned actor and Bafta award winner David Bradley, who recently starred in Game of Thrones.

Harry, aged 22, said: “Me and my parents thought of David Bradley as soon as the idea came along due to his connection with the hit series and we were absolutely delighted with his enthusiasm towards the project and thank him for being so supportive.”

The project took five months to conceive and more than 70 hours of work went into making the dream become a reality.

Master craftsman Ian Heslop was tasked with making the chair a reality and he crafted it entirely from oak and Gunn & Moore bats, which kindly sponsored the project.

“Gunn and Moore have been sponsors of the Bunburys Cricket Team since its inception in 1986 and both organisers Peter Wright and Richard Harris are absolutely delighted with the final design,” said Harry.

“I would also like to thank my parents for all the support they have shown towards the project.”

The chair has since been sent down to London and presented to David English CBE, Bunbury Cricket Club Founder and former manager of the Bee Gees and Eric Clapton.

The Bunbury Charity, of which Harry is a member, has now raised more than £17m for 100 different causes

The Bunbury Under-15 Cricket Festival has discovered 905 first class cricketers and 88 past England internationals, including nine of the 11 who have just played Test Matches in New Zealand.
