A FAMILY fun day to celebrate a special Vale anniversary helped raise about £1,000.

The Charity Gala Day was held at Hampton Ferry on Sunday (August 3) to celebrate the 85th year of the Raphael family at the Boat Lane site.

It was the fifth annual event and stems back to Diana Raphael’s parents, Eileen and Ernie Huxley who first arrived at Hampton Ferry in 1929.
