Full steam ahead for bleed control kit project on The Lenches

A CAMPAIGN to install bleed kits around villages in The Lenches is picking up even more pace thanks to local businesses supporting an independent fundraiser.

Kyle Hotchkins’ public fundraiser to equip defibrillator cabinets with emergency bleed control kits has seen the backing of local estate agency, Johnsons.

The fundraiser’s campaign has already seen the delivery of 106 kits throughout the local area thanks to continued work with community groups, local authorities, and businesses supporting.

His campaign is inspired by the tragic loss of Daniel Baird, who was fatally stabbed in 2017. The foundation in his name works nationally to raise awareness of the importance of publicly accessible bleed control kits.

Kyle said: “Every bleed kit installed is another chance to save a life. It’s incredible to have the backing of local businesses like Johnsons, who understand how important community safety is and are willing to take action.”

The latest installation comes off the back of support from Johnsons who joined Kyle and The Lenches Sports Club secretary, Paddy Twist, to deliver the first of several bleed kits set to be installed locally.

The kits, designed to provide vital first aid in the event of catastrophic bleeding, will sit alongside existing defibrillators and be accessible 24/7 to the public in emergency situations.

Speaking at the delivery, Tom Tarver, owner and managing director of Johnsons said: “Supporting Kyle’s campaign was an easy decision – his passion and dedication to making our communities safer is truly inspiring.

“As a business rooted in this area, we’re proud to play a small part in helping get these kits where they’re needed.”

The Lenches Sports Club is the latest rural location to benefit from the project, with further installations planned in nearby villages and towns over the summer.
