Free parking at Christmas Lights switch-on events in the Vale

RESIDENTS will be able to park for free at the Vale’s Christmas Lights switch-on events as council chiefs lift the charges to entice more visitors.

All short-stay and long-stay car parks in Evesham and Pershore will be benefiting from free parking from 2pm on Saturday, November 25 as the festivities begin.

Parking charges in Broadway will also be lifted on Saturday, December 9 from 2pm to attract more visitors to the village’s Christmas shopping event.

Council chiefs hope the free parking will help to entice more shoppers into the Vale’s town centres to help boost independent shops.

Coun Richard Morris, Board Member for Economy and Housing at Wychavon, said: “Christmas time is always a really important occasion for supporting our towns.

“With a wonderful array of independent shops on our High Streets, there are plenty of unique gifts which would make fantastic presents. The various Christmas events that take place throughout the district provide many reasons to come and shop locally. The free parking provided is the perfect opportunity to start this year’s Christmas shopping.”
