FREE social media workshops are being offered to Evesham residents to help them navigate the world of Facebook more safely and confidently.
Two sessions are being run by Love Evesham Noticeboard community Facebook group founder Katie Gilbert at Wallace House Community Centre on January, Wednesday 28 (6pm to 8pm) and Friday 30 (10am to 12pm).
Attendees will receive guidance on managing privacy settings to ensure personal updates are visible only to friends and family.
The session will also cover how to safely navigate Facebook Marketplace, including identifying potential red flags when buying or selling items.
In addition, participants will learn about the long-term implications of content shared online.
This project stems from Katie’s experience managing one of the area’s largest digital communities of 50K users and her selection for the Meta Community Accelerator Programme, which provides advanced training and resources to online community leaders.

“As admins of the Evesham Noticeboard, we see residents using Facebook every day with very little awareness of safety measures,” said Katie.
“I feel it’s important to share the expertise we’ve gained and if we can help even one person avoid a scam or secure their private photos, then it’s worth it.
“This is the first of our free community workshops, which we will be running alongside our professional business sessions until November.”
The workshop is open to everyone, including older adults, beginners, and those with learning difficulties.
Carers are welcome to attend, and the environment is designed to be safe, accessible, and informal complete with refreshments.
While the event is free, spaces are strictly limited to ensure everyone gets the support they need so people are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
