THERE were four Evesham winners at this year’s What’s On Readers’ Awards as they were crowned the best in their industries.

The Word of Mouth Cafe was named ‘Best Independent Cafe in Worcestershire,’ The Royal Oak was announced as the ‘Best Independent Restaurant in Worcestershire,’ the Asparafest was crowned ‘Best Festival in Worcestershire’ and The Iron Road won the ‘Best Music Venue in Worcestershire’ award.

The winners fought of stiff competition in their categories, each up against four other finalists, and more than 45,000 votes were cast by members of the public this year.

Owner of the Word of Mouth Cafe, Louise Roberts, said: “We are chuffed to bits and would like to thank all our customers and all those who voted for is to win this award. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all my lovely staff.”

Royal Oak Landlord Alistair Barlow said: “We are thrilled to have won this award for the second year running. Thank you all so much for taking the time to vote for us, we really, really appreciate it.”

Asparafest Festival Director, Tash Daly, said: “We’re over the moon to be voted Best Festival in Worcestershire.

“Asparafest is run by a very small, but passionate team of volunteers and I can’t think of a better way to recognise all their hard work. Thank you to everyone who voted.

“We’re delighted to be amongst so many Evesham winners.

“I hope to see lots of people at Asparafest on 2-4 June to party, and celebrate Vale Gras.”

Muttley Watson, from The Iron Road, said: “It’s a fantastic honour to have won this award, we are excited that the work that has gone in over the last three years has been appreciated.

“Just a quick glance at our upcoming gigs guide will show that we are still in the growth stage, with the bands being attracted to Evesham by the venue getting bigger and better. Exciting times ahead.”
