Foundations in place for action-packed show

A POPULAR Hampton show which is set to attract hundreds of people in Evesham is being supported by a local housebuilder.

Bellway South Midlands, which is building homes at Orchard Place, off Pershore Road, Hampton, has donated £500 towards Hampton Flower Show.

The not-for-profit event, in its third year this year, takes place on the development on Saturday, September 21 from midday.

The show will feature a Dogs Trust dog show, tea tent, classic cars, pony rides, barbecue, bar, brass band, Wychavon District Council’s Get Active Roadshow, observation beehive, working forge demonstration and many arts and craft stalls. Entry is just £1 for adults.

There are also around 100 produce categories for local people to exhibit in – covering vegetables, fruit, flowers, pot plants, floral art, baking, preserves, drinks, handicraft and photography, with plenty of trophies to be won.

Organising committee chairman Ged Bearcroft, who is also a district councillor, said last year there were 780 individual exhibits.

“The Vale of Evesham is synonymous with market gardening and yet country shows like this one are closing down,” he said.

“We are looking forward to another year of growing interest and involvement in creating a day the whole community can enjoy and would like to thank Bellway for their support.”

Jane Yolland, sales director for Bellway South Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to put money into this great local event.

“Hampton Flower Show brings together hundreds of local people and is just the kind of community event which makes this a lovely place to live.”
