Foster care in spotlight with fortnight of events across Worcestershire

Rob George 1st Jun, 2023   0

FOSTERING staff from Worcestershire Children First have been visiting communities across the county to celebrate Foster Care Fortnight.

The team has been holding pop-up events over the last couple of weeks to raise awareness of the importance of fostering and celebrating the fostering community.

They are available all year round to provide advice and support for anyone interested in becoming a foster carer.

Coun Andy Roberts, cabinet member for Children and Families at Worcestershire County Council, said: “Ofsted inspectors recently rated our services as Good and found our children feel safe when living with their foster carers, and carers are proactive in keeping them safe with carers overwhelmingly positive about the support they receive from our fostering social workers.”

Alison Ainsworth, recruitment and retention team lead-Fostering and Kinship said: “We need more families to foster in Worcestershire to keep our children living locally and continue to promote the service and celebrations in fostering beyond the fortnight.

“We’ve really enjoyed being out in the community and it’s amazing how many people already have a connection to fostering. We pride ourselves on being the biggest fostering family in Worcestershire and we are keen to welcome more into our fostering community.”
