Forty jobs on way as new Home Bargains opens up

Evesham Editorial 27th Sep, 2019   0

A NEW £800,000 Home Bargains will open its doors to Evesham shoppers this weekend with the creation of up to 40 new jobs.

The discount retailer will take the wraps off its new store on the Sinclair Retail Park at 8.30am tomorrow (Saturday).

Home Bargains, which is one of the UK’s largest family-run retailers, already boasts a store in the Riverside Shopping Centre and the latest store is one of more than 500 across the UK.

The 13,000 sq ft store, which is adjacent to TK Maxx and Aldi, will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Despite the demise of a number of famous High Street names, Home Bargains has bucked the trend and is currently opening approximately 50 stores a year.

Joe Morris, operations director at Home Bargains, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our second store in Evesham and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors.”

“Sinclair Retail Park will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

The arrival of Home Bargains comes less than a week before the retailer is joined by Aldi which opens its doors on Thursday (October 3) from 8am.

It’s the second store for the German supermarket giant in Evesham and store manager Alan Ridley and his team will be joined by Olympic silver medallist rowing star Frances Houghton, to cut the ribbon.

“I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store, it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its endless support of Team GB,” she said.

Store chiefs have called on local charities and foodbanks in Evesham to register with Neighbourly, a service which links businesses to charitable organisations in their community to receive regular donations of surplus food from the supermarket.

Local charities which register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to five days a week.
