A LEADING county housing association has helped raise £1,848 for Acorns Children’s Hospice thanks to a variety of events.

The cash was collected by Fortis Living during its annual Communities Week aims to bring about positive changes across Fortis Living neighbourhoods working closely with local communities.

Money was also raised from a raffle at the Fortis Living Community Awards in December, an occasion which celebrates the unsung heroes in local communities.

Raffle prizes were donated by West Midland Safari Park, Redpoint Climbing Centre, Worcester Whitehouse Hotel, Wyevale Garden Centres, Royal Worcester, Worcester Live, Sainsbury’s and Morgan Motors;

Donations from older residents who attended pantomime performances by Worcester theatre school All Sorts of Performing Arts also made up the total handed over to Acorns staff.

Catherine Cole, Fortis assistant director for Communities and Neighbourhoods said : “Having visited Acorns in Worcester, we have seen first hand what a positive and vibrant place it is, offering a fantastic range of activities and services to children with life limiting illnesses and their families.”
