Foot massage which led to sex assault sees man jailed

AN EVESHAM man who sexually assaulted a woman in her own home after massaging her feet has been jailed.

Daniel Lewis whose address was given as the Lower Avon Navigation Trust in Evesham, had been convicted at Worcester Crown Court of three charges of sexual assault.

Appearing at Warwick Crown Court, where the judge who heard his case is now sitting, the 50-year-old was jailed for two years and ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.

The court heard that the woman says she had trusted Lewis, but her ordeal in June 2017 has made her wary of men and had an effect on her health.

Judge Andrew Lockhart QC observed that Lewis had a previous conviction for sexual assault in 2006 after he had followed a woman and put his hand up her skirt.

Sentencing him, the judge said that in June 2017 Lewis, who knew his victim and that she was vulnerable, went to her home where he agreed to massage her feet for her.

“You decided to take advantage of that. You progressed to move inside her clothing and rubbed her bare breasts.”

Lewis then exposed himself and tried to get the woman to touch him – and when she stood up to try to get away from him, he spanked her bottom 15 to 20 times.

And, telling Lewis it had to be an immediate prison sentence, Judge Lockhart added: “You did target her as a vulnerable individual.”
