Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day

Evesham Editorial 26th Jun, 2020   0

A SALUTE to brave men and women across the country was made at Wychavon District Council to mark Armed Forces Day tomorrow (Saturday).

Chairman of Wychavon District Council, Coun Frances Smith, joined with councils and communities from across UK in raising the Armed Forces Day flag at the Civic Centre in Pershore on Monday (June 22).

Coun Smith said: “Sadly due to the Coronavirus pandemic we were not able to hold our usual ceremony but we still wanted to show our support for the armed services and to give a morale boost to our troops working around the world providing security, promoting peace and fighting terrorism.

“They have also played an important part in the strategic planning that has gone into our response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We also pay tribute to the support and sacrifices made by their families.”

People can show their support for the armed forces community by taking a picture or video of them saluting and sending it to @ArmedForcesDay on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #SaluteOurForces
