Flag flown to mark Commonwealth Day

Rob George 10th Mar, 2021   0

COUNCIL chiefs raised the Commonwealth flag over their Pershore base to mark 2021 Commonwealth Day.

The ceremony at the Civic Centre on Monday (March 8) was one of more than 1,000 in Commonwealth countries around the world.

Commonwealth Day is held on the second Monday in March each year and is an opportunity for individuals, communities and organisations to promote the values of peace, democracy and equality that the Commonwealth stands for.

Coun Robert Raphael, chairman of Wychavon District Council, said: “The flag represents the strong bond and connection between the district and the communities across the Commonwealth.”
