Festive fun run pulls in the crowds

FESTIVE clad fun runners, joggers and walkers alike took part in Pershore’s Santa Fun Run at Abbey Park to raise cash for the town’s 2017 carnival.

Sunday’s (December 18) was sponsored by Sweet Traditions, Fladbury Pies, Avon Leisure Cruises, V Signs, Newlands Fish Bar and The Oak at Defford, got off to a jolly start with the Pensham Singers providing the entertainment.

Pershore’s newly formed Round Table joined in the fun with Father Christmas and his sleigh making a guest appearance.

Ollie Morgan won the fun run overall, with Alfie Rollett coming second and Sam Tebbatt in third.




The first junior boy past the line went to David Annis and first junior girl to Emily Noon.

Colin Sheppard, Chairman of the Pershore Carnival, said “We had a variety of santas, elves, and snowmen taking part, there was even a Christmas pudding!


“The people of Pershore really did make an effort – there was a real community spirit”

“We really appreciate the generosity of our sponsors and the support from both the Pershore Round Table and Pensham Singers, their presence really added to the event.

“Special thanks need to go to Mayor Coun Bob Gilmour for finding time in his busy schedule to judge the fancy dress competition”

The prize for the best festive dressed girl went to Kayla Lavery and best dressed boy Tom Porter.

Best dressed male was won by Dave Stratton, and best dressed lady Lorna Cellupica.
