CBEEBIES stars Mr Bloom and Katy Ashworth will be among the stars on show at Asparafest this weekend.

Youngsters under 10 can get into the event for free from today until Sunday as the festival celebrates all things related to Vale of Evesham Asparagus with a family friendly combination of music, food and fun activities and attractions.

Mr Bloom and Katy Ashworth will be on stage from midday on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The ever popular Asparafest family craft tent returns with even more for children to make and create.




Junkfish will make Grass heads, spoon puppets , swords and shields, crowns, tiaras and pirate hats and fridge magnets.

A dressing up area, playdough kitchen, the Junk Ball Run, outdoor games and circus toys are all there to enjoy.


The Mayflower Project’s teen tent is new for 2017 and is a welcoming and friendly space for teenagers to come and hang out, play instruments, or get involved with workshops.

* MUSIC lovers will be treated to some tasty treats for the ears as well as for the palette when they attend Asparafest.

The award winning music and food festival, which celebrates Worcestershire’s famous Vale of Evesham asparagus, draws visitors of all ages from across the UK, and the musical line up will not disappoint.

The festival’s two music stages will resound with the sounds of bands including Dr Feelgood, 3 Daft Monkeys, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican, Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band, The Peas, Tazmin Barnes, FiddleBop and many more.

Asparafest headliners are Dr Feelgood, who will also finish the festival in style on Sunday afternoon.

They are one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts performing at the moment, and have enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles including Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home and of course See You Later Alligator, the song which gave the group their first gold record.

And for Asparafest campers tonight in the bar will be The Ronaldos, who are a four piece acoustic action in a Cuban, Skiffle, Banjo, Ska, Pop type style.

“The programme includes a wide mix of genres to please the crowd across both days,” said Asparafest organiser Tash Daly.

“Some of the musicians are well known, others are rapidly gaining a following but all promise great music and entertainment. There is something for everyone’s music taste.”
