Fayre aims to promote volunteering in Pershore community

Rob George 27th Jan, 2023   0

PERSHORE residents are being urged to start the new year by helping out in their local community.

Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre will be holding a volunteering fayre on Saturday (January 28) at Pershore Town Hall, supported by Wychavon’s communities team and Pershore

Town Council.

The event will give attendees a chance to explore all the opportunities available locally including positions with well-known charities.

The fayre has been championed by Wychavon District and Pershore Town Councillor, Dan Boatright, who is keen to see if more help and support can be found from people within the

community.

“I understand that it is tough for people right now but if you have any spare time it could really make a difference to someone in need. Volunteering is a great way to put the spirit back into our communities.”

Katreena Barnes, Volunteer Co-ordinator at Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre said the benefits for the person volunteering are very rewarding.

“The volunteers who come to us often think they are signing up to help someone else but they quickly discover how beneficial volunteering is. You can learn new skills, broaden your social circle and improve your own well-being by volunteering in your community.”

The event runs from 10am to 2pm at Pershore Town Hall.

If you cannot make the event, you can contact Katreena at the Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre on [email protected]
