KIND-HEARTED fund-raisers have arranged a mud run and cycle challenge to help raise donations for a young boy who can’t walk unaided.

Two-year-old, Ben Harris-Bell from North Littleton has cerebral palsy, leaving him unable to walk or crawl unaided, but a costly operation would reduce stiffness, stop pain and give him chance to take his first steps.

Ben’s Dad Mark Harris and his Uncle Ashley Cook along with friends, will be taking part in the mud run on Saturday, May 16 from 10am, to raise funds in aid of Ben to have the vital operation, and pay for the physiotherapy and equipment he needs.

Ben’s mother Emma Bell said: “Mark was looking for something he could do to raise money and his friend suggested the mud run.

“Mark has never done anything like this, neither has Ashley, but for Ben they’ve taken up the challenge.

“The event organisers are lovely and have allowed us to go along and collect for Ben on the day and Evesham’s Tesco Community Champion Vicki Anderson has offered to come along and help collect funds.”

The mud run starts at Court Farm near Kidderminster with a short run along an uneven gravel track which will head into woodlands through boggy marsh land and mud before finishing in the ‘swamp lake’.

The cycling event will see 35 riders leave London’s Big Ben in the early hours of June 13 and make their way to The Bridge Inn, Offenham in the same day.

The cyclists will return to a party atmosphere where the pub will put on a BBQ, live music and raffle, with prizes including a signed Manchester United pennant donated and authenticated by the club, a signed Alistair McGowan shirt, vouchers for local

businesses and days out to Hatton Park and Worcester Races.
