Family run garage 'limping on' after thieves raid premises

THE OWNER of a family-run garage has said the business is ‘limping on’ after thieves raided their Honeybourne premises.

Samantha Badham from Badham Motors spoke to the Observer following the burglary over the weekend in which vital equipment was stolen.

The raid took place sometime between 8pm on Saturday (September 2) and 6.30am Sunday (September 3).

The thieves broke into the Station Road garage by forcing the door to the front of the building causing damage to the door, frame and the mechanism.

Once inside they damaged two separate key presses and made an unsuccessful attempt to break into a safe.

They also forced open a till drawer, but luckily no money was left in it over the weekend.

The thieves made off with tools, computers and diagnostic equipment – essential equipment the firm needs to carry out MOTs as an approved testing station.

Samantha: “We’re open for business as usual, but we’re limping on.

“The burglary really has hampered us. We’re still in the process of finding out what was stolen.

“I’ve contacted local garages around here to warn them of what has happened.

“We need the diagnostics equipment as an approved testing station, but luckily local garages have been really kind and lent us computers so that we can carry on.

“What’s happened has really highlighted the community spirit with people offering to lend us equipment.”

Anyone with information on the burglary is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 191s of Sunday, September 3.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
