Evesham's new B&M store opens its doors

EVESHAM’s new B&M Homestore and Garden Centre welcomed a local hero as it opened its doors to customers.

Staff at the Worcester Road store were asked to nominate a local hero who they thought deserved some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community.

They chose Sue Sollis and her charity The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust which took centre stage at the launch alongside Evesham Mayor, Coun Fred Kaler.

Sue set up the charity after her daughter, Tracy, died from leukaemia at the age of 15.

The charity’s aim and objective is to promote and assist in the prevention and relief of sickness, suffering and distress of those afflicted with leukaemia.

Alongside running her own charity, Sue has also done lots of fund-raising for the Anthony Nolan Trust for the last 25 years.

In addition to opening the new store today (Wednesday), the charity also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part.

Customers will also be able to enter the B&M Big Prize Bonanza, a free game show taking place at the store on Saturday (March 25)

Those who enter will be in with a chance of winning prizes including a slow cooker, B&M vouchers, Cadbury’s chocolates and much more.

There will also be a face-painter in store to transform customers into their favourite super heroes, animals or characters.

The newly developed store has undergone a comprehensive internal and external refurbishment programme and created 40 new jobs for local people.

Store manager, Kerry Baker, said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and feedback on the new store has been great so far.

“We’re also looking forward to the weekend, it’ll be a great way to continue to the fun atmosphere and give our customers a chance to win some big prizes,” she added.
