Evesham trio take a leap for good causes

THREE daredevil colleagues from Evesham took a collective leap of faith last Friday (August 8) in the name of charity.

Kathryn Brown, Nicola Topper and Carole Hotchkins who work at Albert Road Chiropractic, jumped out of a plane for a skydive to raise money for Vale Wildlife Hospital and Winston’s Wish, which supports children and young people after the death of someone important.

Kathryn and Nicola are both chiropractors, while Carole works as a receptionist. So far, the fearless threesome have bagged £1,770 for their chosen good causes.

Kathryn, whose idea it was, told the Observer that originally it was just going to be her and Nicola, but Carole told her that she might find my ‘brave pants’ and join them, so it ended up being all three.

She said they didn’t have any fears about getting injured or the parachute not opening – only about being sick on the way down – an ordeal she was mercifully spared.

“It was pretty insane, for the first 10 seconds you genuinely feel like you are falling, and we were in freefall for 45 seconds, which was just incredible. After the parachute went up it went really quiet and calm, just gliding down, looking around at the world. It was pretty cool.”

“I specifically chose to fundraise for Winston’s Wish – a charity I can closely relate to, having lost my mum at 26 years old, which made for a turbulent couple of years following, learning how to live with the grief.

All three thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “We’d all do it again,” she added.
