A KIND-hearted Evesham teenager is organising a motorbike ride to raise thousands of pounds for the Stroke Association in memory of her grandmother.

Emma Bell, 18, has set her sights on raising £1,000 for the charity following the sudden passing of her nan two years ago and hopes her event will raise more awareness of the Stroke Association’s work.

She came up with the idea of organising a motorbike ride after taking part in one herself.

Emma will be leading the route on her own bike which is setting off from the Co-operative store car park on Davies Road at 12.30pm on Sunday, April 16 for the 22 mile journey to the BOF Clubhouse in Portway.

The 18-year-old is no stranger to fund-raising for charities. Two years ago Emma raised more than £500 for Dogs Trust in Wickhamford and last year she raised more than £1,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Speaking to the Observer, Emma said: “Organising this event is a way of raising awareness for the Stroke Association and the fantastic support they provide, to not only the sufferers, but their families. This is something I wish I had of been aware of during my grandmother’s illness.

“The organisation means such a lot to me and although not everyone will be able to relate to why I’m doing this, they can still enjoy a ride out knowing their donation is going a long way.

“I’d love for this motorbike event to become an annual event, raising awareness for a variety of charities and enticing people from all across the UK to join in.

“With such an amazing charity to raise money for, I hope as many people as possible get involved, whether that be joining in with the event or just watching us leave. All money, no matter how small, is appreciated.”

There is a donation of £3 per bike to take part.
