A ROAD PLANER operator at Evesham’s Jet Plant Hire is taking on a driving challenge of a different kind when he competes in a major stock car racing competition in Northern Ireland in May.
Josh Spiers, who lives in the town, is passionate about stock car racing, entering competitions nationwide using a car that he built with his brother in his spare time.
His stock car proudly displays the Jet logo with the company supporting his enthusiasm for sport he’s taken part in since a child.

It’s a family affair for Josh, with his brother and uncle also regularly racing.
This May 22 and 23, he will take part in the Irish Open Championship at Nutt’s Corner in Northern Ireland, a key date in the stock car racing calendar.
Attracting talent from across the world, Josh explained why he loves stock car racing so much.
“It’s something that I’ve always known,” he said. “It’s a great chance to have some proper fun and get your hands dirty.
“I’m not competing in these competitions to become a world champion, it’s more of a hobby to me and something that I just love doing.”
Josh is also passionate about encouraging young people to get involved in the road planing industry.
He has worked at Jet Plant Hire since he was 21 and travelled across the country to work on a range of projects.
Road planing is essential for keeping Britain’s roads moving, with damaged road surfaces removed using a planing machine, allowing new surfaces to be applied.
Jet Plant Hire offers a dedicated training programme, Jet School, which equips trainees with the skills they need to kickstart their career.
Josh added: “I can’t imagine ever doing anything else. This job gives you the chance to travel to new places and every single day is a fresh challenge.
“We do need new talent to come through for the next generation so I’d really encourage more young people to look into it.”
