WHEN I was aged 9 or 10, we did not have a television, so I listened to the radio.
After finishing my homework, I would tune in to ‘Journey into Space’, ‘Dick Barton’ and’ The Archers’.
After over 20,000 editions, the Archers is still the only one broadcasting.
In the original editions, the Archers brought up to date information for farmers in the storylines. Although I no longer listen, I believe it is more of a soap opera today.
How things have changed, but the problems which surrounded us then, are still with us today. Sadly, mankind never learns from it’s mistakes and continues to move on blindly as before.
I have often said that if the Prophets that we read of in the Old Testament of the Bible were to come back today, they would still encounter the same basic needs in modern society. Take away the modern innovations and technologies, the same problems would continue to surface.
Those Prophets who were sent by God to tell the world of its wrongdoing would still be coming with the same strong message from that same God.
Today those Prophets are the men and women who faithfully bring us the Good News of the Gospel week after week from our church pulpits.
Wherever we are, whatever our circumstance, let us take on board that Good News into our life.
